Chickens?!?  YES!   CHICKENS!!!   They might be chickens, but what you learn at this workshop will help you with animal training whether you work with parrots, dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, ostrich or goldfish.  The skills of timing and observation are applicable everywhere.  No animal training experience is neccessary.  Come as you are and bring your sense of humor!

But Why Chickens?!?
Above all else, we love pet chickens!  We also love animal training!  Chickens are fun to train.  What you train is what you get.
This makes chickens an amazing animal for practicing clicker training.  With improved observation, timing and delivery skills you’ll become a better trainer overall, regardless of what type of animal you like to work with.

Few other animal types will test your timing, delivery and shaping skills like a chicken. Chicken movements are fast.  It makes it easy to miss approximations.  This workshop offers direct observation and hands-on training with chickens, so you’ll get plenty of practice and have a small group of training buddies to learn with (and from).  The coach/student ratio is also kept small so you can ask all the questions you've ever wanted to!  Instant feedback from supportive teachers makes this class unique.

The special anatomy of a chicken includes a hearty appetite and (usually) a very serious interest in food.  Chickens are able to eat a substantial amount at any one time and do so quickly because they don’t need to chew.  This allows for higher repetitions and more learning opportunities for both chicken and trainer.  Interestingly, during our first class, our chickens had eaten all they could physically could, but were still choosing to train.  It was amazing to watch!

Practice your planning, timing and overall training skills working with an animal that takes what you train literally and learns quickly.  Learn a skill with the added benefit of coaching, and instant feedback.  It’s an
opportunity to improve how you train the animals that you already work with.

You will gain both knowledge and hands-on experience from this workshop.  It offers a unique learning occasion to experience positive reinforcement training from a different perspective.  It may not be always be easy, but it will be fun!

Please leave your pets at home.  Chicken learners will be provided.
Participants will also be supplied with a clicker, training journal and education packet with additional information and resources. All participants will also receive a certificate of learning (suitable for framing) upon request.

Snacks provided.

**Our trainining philsophy:  We want everyone to have a great relationship with their pets.  We believe that people are better trainers when they have more tools, and positive reinforcement training is a great tool.   It is our goal to choose the most positive, least intrusive methods for training and behavior modification.  It's effective and fun!

We are sure that you'll agree, chickens are a trainers best friend!

What previous students are saying about our Clickin' Chicken Workshop:

"You set the goal for the day to have fun, and we all had fun: students, coaches, and chickens. Chickens with full crops and still responding must be enjoying it."

"Small groups were excellent for practice and individual attention.  One coach per 3 students is incredibly fabulous."

"I learned so much today!  Thank you so much.  Can't wait to start training!"

"Great job!  My brain is tired, but I'm excited to put my girls to work!  Thanks for being so well organized and inspiring!"
